Anthracite Filter Material - Seeking A Balance Among Environmental Protection, Economy And Resource Recycling

When "carbon peaking and carbon neutrality" have become a global consensus, the traditional filter material industry is being pushed to a crossroads of transformation. Anthracite filter material is widely used in drinking water purification, sewage treatment and industrial waste gas filtration due to its high carbon and low ash content, well-developed micropores and high mechanical strength. How to achieve a long-term balance of resources, energy and the environment while meeting increasingly strict emission standards is an inevitable question facing the entire industrial chain.

Anthracite Filter Material

The natural advantages of anthracite filter material have a significant impact on its sustainable development.

Sustainable raw materials:
Anthracite is a type of coal with a high degree of metamorphism and is abundant in global reserves. Major mining areas in Shanxi, Guizhou and other regions of China have comprehensively promoted the construction of "green mines". Through measures such as filling mining and gas extraction for power generation, carbon emissions during the mining stage have been reduced by 8% to 12%.

Manufacturing with low energy consumption:
Compared with synthetic resins or ceramic filter materials, anthracite only requires four steps: crushing, screening, acid washing and high-temperature calcination to become a finished product. Modern rotary kiln calcination technology uses coalbed methane to replace coal, with a unit energy consumption of ≤ 0.45 GJ·t⁻¹, which is 30% lower than that of traditional processes.

It causes no secondary pollution during use:
The product itself does not contain soluble heavy metals and is chemically stable within the pH range of 3 to 11. The backwash wastewater only contains suspended solids and is easy to settle and reuse

In conclusion, anthracite filter material is undergoing a magnificent transformation from a "cheap consumable" to a "sustainable material" thanks to its natural green endowment, mature recycling path and continuously iterated digital technology. When policies, technologies and the market form a positive closed loop, it is not only a green pass to the "dual carbon" goals, but also a long-term fulcrum for the sustainable development of the water treatment and air purification industry.
