Weldable Flexible Graphite Bipolar Plate
Main Product Description
Traditional flexible graphite bipolar plates frequently face sealing challenges during stack assembly. Conventional sealing schemes relying on separate gaskets often raise risks of gas crossover and assembly complexity. To resolve these practical bottlenecks, this composite bipolar plate implements a purpose-built dual-region structural layout supported by continuous carbon-fiber reinforcing networks embedded deep within the substrate.
Internal carbon-fiber filaments stretch outwards toward the plate's outer perimeter to form two functionally distinct zones. The central portion serves as the electrochemically active graphite domain that handles core current-conduction and electrochemical reaction duties. Surrounding this central active section is a thermoplastic-rich peripheral band engineered for thermal welding operations.
This special zoning design eliminates the need for extra intermediate gaskets in many stack configurations. Direct perimeter welding improves overall assembly tightness and structural stability for redox-flow-battery stacks and water-splitting electrolyzer modules. Besides its unique weld-capable perimeter, the carbon-fiber reinforced substrate maintains good bending tolerance and mechanical robustness for high-volume stacking operations.
We support customizable plate thickness, width and length to match client-specific stack designs. Every production batch undergoes multi-item performance validation covering mechanical strength, gas barrier performance and conductive-zone conductivity before shipment.

FAQ
Q: What is the advantage of dual-zone design for flexible graphite bipolar plates?
A: Separating the conductive active zone and thermoplastic welding perimeter allows direct thermal welding at plate edges, reducing gasket-related leakage risks for electrochemical stacks.
Q: Why is conductivity zero in the welding perimeter?
A: The peripheral border is formulated with higher thermoplastic content for weldability, prioritizing sealing performance rather than electrical conduction.
