Application Of Activated Carbon Canister in Automotive

The application of activated carbon canister mainly reflects in its adsorption and storage of gasoline vapor function. Activated carbon canisters are usually installed between the gasoline tank and the engine, and the main function is to absorb and store the gasoline vapor escaping from the car fuel tank and carburetor, preventing these vapor from volatilization into the atmosphere and causing pollution and waste.

Activated Carbon

The role of activated carbon in automotive carbon canister

Adsorbed gasoline vapor: when the engine is flameout, the activated carbon canister absorbs the gasoline vapor escaping from the car fuel tank and the carburetor. These vapors are mixed with fresh air and adsorbed by activated carbon and stored in a carbon tank.

Recovery and combustion of gasoline vapor: when the engine starts, the solenoid valve in the carbon canister opens, and the adsorbed gasoline vapor is sucked into the intake manifold and participates in the combustion, thus providing the fuel needed for the engine, reducing fuel consumption and improving combustion efficiency.

Reduce air pollution: by absorbing and storing gasoline vapor, the activated carbon canister effectively reduces the emission of gasoline evaporation and reduces the pollution to the environment.

Working principle of activated carbon in an automotive carbon canister

The activated carbon canister is filled with activated carbon, using its strong adsorption capacity to absorb gasoline vapor. When the engine is working, the solenoid valve opens, and the gasoline vapor is transported through the pipeline to the engine intake pipe to participate in the combustion. When the engine is not working, the solenoid valve is closed and the gasoline vapor is stored in the carbon canister.
